First defeat in six for Doddington

DODDINGTON'S run of success finally came to an end when they lost by six wickets against CCA Division One leaders St Ives on Saturday.
It was Doddington’s first defeat in six games but they still remain in second place after a middle order batting collapse against Bevis Moynan, who was playing in the Premier Division for Godmanchester last season. He took four for 20 as Doddington found themselves at 46 for eight.

Then came a face-saving partnership from Jamie Long 41 and Ben Pyle 31 to drag Doddington to 129 all out.

Moynan then hit 51 runs to make sure his side got the points

Doddington seconds travelled to take on St Ives in the CCA Junior League Division 2 clash on Saturday and lost by 88 runs. St Ives scored 188 for 9 wickets.

Ryan Wright was the pick of the bowlers taking 5 wickets for 42 runs in 10 overs. He was supported by Phil Goodfellow who took two for 36 runs in 10 overs.

In reply, Doddington were bowled out 100 runs in 25 overs. Top scorers were Dan Beavis with 37 and Clive Dove with 26.

On Sunday, Doddington entertained Whittlesey in the Fenland Trophy Ernie Wool Cup. Whittlesey were all out for 110 in 26 overs. Rob Moden took four wickets for 19 runs and Jamie Long three for 33 runs.

Disappointingly, Doddington were bowled out for 92.

n The club are holding their six-a-side tournament on Sunday starting at 11.30.
