With one game left to play, Wisbech are virtually at the end of the 2007/2008 season and celebrated with a dinner on Friday.

Over 50 players and committee members enjoyed a three course dinner. The large attendance reflected the club's ability
to run two teams for most of the season, this being largely down to the dedication and enthusiasm of the coaching team of Richard Horne and Frank Moore.

The annual awards were presented by the President Peter Turner, first up were the second team awards. Ben Chapman won the most improved player and Ben Rodgers was acclaimed as player of the year.

There were two awards presented that recognise the work done "behind the scenes". Club captain Luke Feaviour, who suffered a broken leg in a serious road traffic accident was voted clubman of the year. The Chairman's award was given to Richard Horvath for his unstinting work with the mini section.

Finally, the first team were highlighted and young prop Jake Smith won the most improved player. Other players that were mentioned were Greg Brownlow, Solomon Prestidge and James Napier.

The accolade of player of the year went to the stand out flanker Tom Martell. Tom has been outstanding in every game that he has played.

Overall, it's been a great year for the club, a quarter final place in the EDF and third place in the league.

The second team have performed admirable in the Norfolk league and end the season in the top three.

Furthermore, the seconds have won through to the final of the second team county cup and take on Shelford on Saturday.

The match kicks off at 3pm at Harecroft Road.
