NE14 Hockey East Premier A leaders Harleston proved too strong for Wisbech – but the scoreline didn't reflect the game.
For much of the first half Wisbech were in control but lacked a cutting edge and Harleston took the lead against the run of pl
ay.
They doubled their lead with a well-taken short corner and then grabbed a third after a short corner rebounded off the crossbar.
Wisbech gave themselves a glimmer of hope just before half-time when Sam Blunt scored from a short corner.
The glimmer faded, though, in the first minute of the second half when Wisbech gave the ball away in their own half and within seconds it was in the back of their net.
Wisbech were then on the back foot as Harleston exerted their authority.
Three more goals gave the scoreline a one-sided impression – Wisbech caused Harleston more problems than most teams this season. Next week Wisbech visit Bishop Stortford (1.30pm).

Ely men's 1st 4
Wisbech started really brightly against unbeaten Ely. They took the lead through Aaron Cobb and soon went 2-0 up via Karl Belding.
Ely pulled a goal back before Cobb scored his second to give Wisbech a two-goal cushion - only for Ely to score again just beofre half time.
After half-time it was a different game as Ely pushed forward and scored twice.
Wisbech travel to Peterborough 4ths on Saturday with a 11.30am start.

Wisbech were missing several regulars.
The game was very physical and the visitors came away with two players injured.
Newmarket scored an early goal from a short corner but Wisbech levelled via Matt Goodwin from a short corner.
The visitors went 2-1 down to a freakish goal but, in the second half, battled back to level when Tim Wong's pass found skipper Dom Stannard who smashed home.

Horncastle 3rd 2
Wisbech started well against league strugglers Horncastle when Al Hanrohan put away a penalty corner goal in the first three minutes.
They continued to put on the pressure but were unable to score a goal to settle the game. Horncastle levelled with a well-taken goal before half-time.
In the second half Wisbech were unable to convert their posession into goals as they kept running into defenders.
The pattern continued until Horncastle scored with a scorching shot.
This finally woke Wisbech up and Hanrohan scored his second to salvage a draw.
