MARCH manager Brett Whaley is scouring the local scene for a new striker with both James MacCallum and Andy Wayte ruled out for at least a month.
MacCallum damaged ankle ligaments in a tackle against Fakenham last week while Wayte is still recovering from a groin injury.

It was first feared that MacCallum had broken an ankle but Whaley said: "Fortunately it is ankle ligaments but it could b
e a month to six weeks and the priority is to sign a striker as soon possible and ideally before this week's game against Hadleigh at the GER. Denny Escorio is not due back from holidaying in Portugal until next week so Dave Weston is likely to be pushed up front again as he did against Leiston."

Hadleigh will be tough opponents for March after finishing last season in fourth place. They drew at the GER but beat the Hares 6-1 at their place. They are two points above march now having won out of their four games.

Whaley added: "We have got to stop thinking about our opponents and concentrate on our own game more. We seem to pay too much respect to the better sides and then think things are going to easy against the lesser teams.

"It is a big blow losing MacCallum as he gave us the height and strength up front to hold the ball up, ideally we would like to bring in someone who can fill a similar role and will be having a good look round this week."

Whaley hopes that Grant Watson will have recovered from a bruised leg but Lee White is still not fit enough for a place in the starting line-up.
