Wisbech and District Kart Racing Club held a one off special winter national race day at Swaffham Raceway on Sunday.
The 70cc junior class saw the young Cameron Kingham take first place and 118 points with Ti Burt a good second on 92 and third for the number 28 kart of Ben Ward (88pts).

In the 90cc class there was some close racing between Josh Smith (1st) and L
iam Russell-Smith (2nd) with 112 and 90 points respectively, while Ward got another third racing in two classes and collecting another 88 points.

The 125cc juniors was the biggest field with 10 entries and some consistent driving from James Fisher allowed him to finish first on 108 points with Ben Jackson a second and 102 whilst another of the Burt boys this time Toby took third with 84.

The 125cc seniors heats were all extremely close races and some coolheaded driving from Robin Kingham saw him push his tally of points to 118 and lift the first place trophy while Ashley Hornigold the youngest of the pack was clinical enough to get a second and 100 points with Matt Gardner in third on 86 points. The 4-stroke seniors saw club chairman Andy Golding take first and 100 points with Andy Huggins nippy driving winning him 98 to just pip the 94 points won by the experienced Karl Fisher at third.

Amongst this race were the two karts of Alan Mansfield first with 116 points and Terry Burt, who came in second on 94.

What the 250cc seniors lacked in numbers on the grid they certainly made up for in speed on the straight with some excellent skilled cornering from both Fred Hornigold and Robin Russell with Fred finishing ahead in first on 112 and Robin a good second with 98 points.Junior of the day trophy was awarded to Zoe Mansfield the only girl in the thumpsters for her true grit and determination.

The first meeting of the summer series is planned for Sunday, April 25 at the usual venue in Christchurch.
