In the third Great East Anglia Run Becky Cousins ran a personal best and finished as first junior lady.
She completed the 10K course around King’s Lynn in 43-42 minutes to finish 166th in the overall classification. This built on her third place last year.

First man home for Fenland Running Club was chairman Tim Chapman, whose 38-02 placed him 47th in a competitive field. The race attracted almost 2,000 entrants from across a wide area, some of whom were national level athletes.

First time entrant Lucy Robinson ran well with a time of 53-26 (669th), followed closely by Claudia Milburn (53-45, 699th) who continues to improve. The strong ladies team included Jane Holmes (50-10, 481st), Nicola Floyd (48-53, 417th) and Maire Irlam (47-50, 362nd).

The men’s team was supported well by Ian Milburn (42-53, 139th) and Ady Martin (39-48, 70th) as well as Keith Wagg (43-33, 161st) and Richard Dix (44-49, 221st) in his first race since an injury.

In his first race for the Fenland runners, Deryck Gilham finished in 45-58 (269th) while a long-time friend of the club, Oguzhan Deneri, returned to run 56-02 (839th). Father and daughter Dave and Rhiannon Harris finished in 55-50 (825th) and 1:00-27 (1099th) respectively

Several runners beat the hour mark with Geoff Floyd at 53-58 (717th), Michelle Gilbert at 55-52 (826th) and Cheryl Chapman 55-55 (829th). Closer still were Sue Atter in 56-54 (891st), Jane Greenwood in 56-59 (897th) and Brian Kett 58-31 (980th).
