MARCH Seconds and Doddington Seconds are both celebrating CCA promotion.
March Seconds clinched promotion to CCA Division Three with a 98-run win over Abbots Ripton on Saturday.

Things were not going too well for March with six wickets down and only 80 runs on the board, but Lewis Hilliard, who had already had a busy m
orning playing football for Rushden Diamonds changed all that.

Coming in at number eight he crashed 15 fours and three sixes in his 107 as March finished on 209 all out. Wayne Markillie 19 and skipper Hulley 18 supported.

Abbots Ripton, who needed to score 160 runs to thwart March’s promotion, were bowled out for 111 with Markillie taking four for 40 and 14-year-old Jacob Grey claiming two wickets.

Skipper Hulley said: “Lewis did not arrive at the ground until 3.30 and completely changed the game.

“We had six juniors in the side. It was great to win promotion after being relagated last season.”

n Doddington Seconds secured promotion from CCA League Division 3A with a six-wicket win over neighbours Wimblington on Saturday.

They dismissed Wimblington for 102. Bob Burgess led the way with four wickets for 20 runs. Ben Pyle bagged two for 16 and Ryan Wright and Ryan Faunch picked up a wicket apiece.

Doddington needed 34.1 overs to reach their target, losing four wickets in the process, with 40 not out from Dan Martell, 20 from Martyn Bentley and 15 not out from Pyle. Adrian Bussey took two for 26 for Wimblington.

In their last game of the season, on Saturday, Doddington travel to Littleport, where victory will see them promoted as champions.

Other results – March Seconds 240-8 (Conor Cunningham 81, Jake Wenman 50) beat Ely 221 all out (James Bereford 3-51, Cunningham, Rob Tombs, Brian Tombs two wickets) in CCA Senior League Division Two.
