McCarthy stays top

England B player Darren McCarthy was the top performer this week in the Wisbech Singles Pool League.
At 4-1 down against world champion Andy Lucas he won six of the next seven frames for an excellent 7-5 win and stays three points clear at the top of the Monday league.

Barry Ellis stays second after a 7-4 win over Harland Thorpe and Chris Ripley moves ahead of Lucas into third after a 7-4 win over Ashley Durance.

In the Tuesday league it’s Eric Mohammed who leads after comfortably beating Graham Wood 7-3.

Ady Austin is close on his heels in second after beating Anthony Williams 7-3 and Paul Matthews is third after a 7-5 win over up-and-coming youngster Ryan Stanford.

Last season’s champion Matt Goodale had a superb 7-1 win over Mo Crowson and last season’s player of the season James Ripley continues to impress when beating Dave Woods 7-5.

Other results - Monday: A Cooper 7 G Hunter 2; S Furness 7 S Elliott 2; B Teun 7 S Dadashev 6.
