STOCK Car BriSCA F2 champion David Polley (Manea) had the best possible start to the defence of his Silver Roof when he took the chequered flag in his first race of the season at Kings Lynn.
Despite starting at the very rear of the 38 car grid, Polley scythed his way through the grid and was up in third place with three laps to go. He made his move and hit the front and despite the close attention of former World of Shale Champion Andy F
ord (Sheffield) Polley held on to take the chequered flag.

Also qualifying for the final through the heat that Davis won was Tom Smart (Wisbech) who was seventh, with Henry King (Wisbech) also making the final with probably his best ever shale drive in the Consolation with a second place finish.

Polley also delivered another great performance in the meeting final in third place and was the best Superstar finisher.

King also showed that good things can be expected from him with a composed drive to a ninth place finish. Smart made up for his disappointment with a non-finish in the final with a good fourth place in the Grand National.

The mighty 2L Stock Cars were also in action and Shaun McMillan (Wisbech) soon found his very smart machine in trouble when he was involved in an incident.

He was taking part in the second staging of the Clive Grief Memorial which featured Clive's brother David Grief (Wisbech) - a former 1300 Stock Car Driver - in action in the 2L Stock Cars for the first time.

He did very well in ninth place in the lower grade Stars of Tomorrow race with Kris Woods (Snettisham) taking the win.

Shaun's brother Steve McMillan came home in fifth place. Steve then went to finish 10th in the memorial final, which was won by former World Champion David Aldous (Diss) before coming home in fifth place in one of the All Comers races.

Completing Saturday's action was the 1300 Stock Cars Steven Stovin (Attleborough) was the early leader but Lee Farrell and Buster Ketteringham (both Wisbech) were close by.

With four laps to do Stovin was sent aside and delayed Ketteringham which allowed Farrell to take the win, with Stovin second place and Ketteringham third. Ray Cutting (Wisbech) was seventh.

Cutting produced one of his best ever performances to come fourth in the first All Comers Race with Dean Moat, Roy Gedge (Wisbech) and Ketteringham finishing sixth, seventh and eighth place respectively.

The second All Comers Race saw a big incident which involved Ketteringham and resulted in a quadruple rollover for earlier race winner Booth. Gedge produced a great drive en route to a fifth place finish.

Stock car and banger racing returns to the Norfolk Arena on March 20 (6.30pm) when the Unlimited Bangers head the bill. There is also double excitement for stock car fans with 2L and 1300 stock cars both being in action.
