MOUNTAIN biker Paul Ashby riding for the Fat Birds team, joined team mates Adi and Nigel Scott, and Gavin Rumbles to ride in the Mountain Mayhem 24-hour race at Eastnor Castle Deer Park in the Malvern Hills.
Riding through the night they ended up doing an extra lap of the course due to a miscount, but not deterred they still stormed through to beat their nearest rivals in the Sport Category by a close margin, even without the disputed lap.

ame Sunday, Andrew Ward of Wisbech Wheelers competed in the East District 100-mile time trial going under five hours with a new pb of 4.52.51.
The last of the Wisbech midsummer 15-milers was run on a fine but breezy Tuesday evening. The Jakeman brothers Andrew and David rode as a team and were fastest with 34.42, but were not able to beat their individual times from two weeks before. Most riders were slowed by the wind apart from runner-up Mike McInerney who was actually 15 seconds quicker in 36.40.
Paul Ashby was in action again on Friday in the fifth of the FNSS Race series at Kilworth Springs in Leicestershire and this time he was joined by his son James who is a national skating champion. Dad won the Veterans, son won the Juniors.
