IN the Tuesday evening Emneth Angling open match on Button Hole Lake the weights continue to impress, the latest winner Kevin Addison drew peg 15 on the Cyanide Strait bank.
Fishing a long pole line at 14 metres up in the water with pellet he took a bag of tench, barbel and small carp to 5lb for a 54lb 8oz catch.

Result: 1 K Addison, 54lb 8oz; 2 S McSpadden, 47lb 12oz; 3 L Pratt, 47lb 10oz; 4 S Burridge, 33lb 19oz.

Fish ‘O’ Mania Qualifier

IT has been a busy weekend for local anglers, young Alex Bates who works in the Mill View Tackle Shop in March was one of the star performers. He fished the £25,000 Fish ‘O’ Mania Qualifier at the weekend on Tunnel Barn Farm and although he did not make it through to the final the rising star did come seventh out of 140 anglers participating and indeed won his lake, no mean feat with several international anglers competing.

Mill View Tackle

CLUB anglers from the Mill View shop had a day out at the Barford Fishery at Norwich on Sunday. The club used the Colton Lake, with several anglers having a day to remember, not least the in-form Mick Sonnett.

He drew one of the fancied end pegs and put a magnificent 156lb 12oz to the scales. The start of the match saw lots of big carp cruising close to the surface, but the March rod opted for a pole and pellet approach close in.

His tactics paid handsome dividends. He finished with 23 fish, several of them going close to double figures. Tim Bates took the runner-up spot with 17 carp for a level 112lb, followed by Paul Hunt with 67lb 6oz.

Rookery Farm Fishery

TUESDAY’S senior citizens’ match on the Rookery Farm Fishery at Pidley saw Mick Sonnett once again taking the honours. The match was fished on the productive Magpie Lake which is the pick of the waters on this fishery right now.

Mick fished his usual pole and pellet approach, catching carp to 3lb steadily all day to record a match winning 70lb 6oz.

Phil Norris took the runner-up spot with 39lb 3oz, followed by Dave Ferragi with 35lb 9oz.

Ramsey AS

NO big fish showed in the Ramsey AS match on Lou’s Pool on the Decoy Lakes complex, Dave Yardy claiming the top spot with 70lb 8oz.

He was kept busy all day, netting carp to 2lb first on cat food, then later in the day switching to pellet. Second place off the next peg went to Paul Kilby. He weighed in 62lb 14oz, followed by Kevin Eldred on 53lb 12oz.

Spratts AC

THE lads from Spratts AC fished the Horseshoe Lake at Decoy, with Colin Varney leading them home from peg 6 with 163lb 4oz. Colin fished at 13 metres up in the water, using banded pellet catching F1s to 2lb.

The lake has been in reasonably good form but Colin’s weight was a very impressive performance. The consistent Bryan Lakey took second place from peg three - again it was pellet fished up in the water that produced the best action. Bryan finished on 86lb 8oz.

Completing the top three was Pete Spriggs with 81lb 8oz. He fished long pole with paste and in the margins from peg one.
