Spratt’s AC fished their latest match on Kingsland Silver Lake, which should hit top form any time now but in this match weights were on the low side.

Out in front was Trevor Cousins, he caught several small tench and a couple of skimmers for 16lb 7oz.

Then came Colin Varney with 9lb 9oz, he caught on the long pole with pellet and three tench close in on pellet. Third with 9lb 5oz was Mac Campbell.

Just the one result from Fieldsend Water Fishery this week.

The OAP’s Tuesday open match saw venue expert Ray Sladden taking pole position with a net of carp taken up in the water on a pellet waggler.

Harold Towler came in second fishing the pole and pellet approach for 95lb, followed by Mike Atherton on 73lb.

Metal Box fished at Gedney Hill at Mill View fisheries recently on the match Lake and like many of us out fishing at the weekend found the blazing hot sun and fish spawning difficult to contend with.

Tony Campion came out on top with 77lb, he fished a Method feeder into open water with pellet.

Runner-up was Rodney Melnyk with 53lb 8oz.

Rodney fished pole tactics down the edge again with pellet.

Third place went to Paul Green on 47lb 12oz.

There were some respectable weights in the Wednesday evening Chatteris Workingmen’s Club match at Bulls Mill on the Forty Foot Drain.

Bob Fitzjohn took the honours with 7lb 8oz of tench and bream.

Runner-up was Jack Halverson on 6lb 7oz, followed by Steve Newell with 4lb 8oz

Not so good for the Sunday match though on the same venue, Steve Newell taking a modest 4lb 3oz for first place followed by John Roper on 11oz and Peter Cornwell with 6oz

Tim Bates topped the latest Fenland Rods match fished on the Cedar Pool at Decoy Lakes with 118lb 7oz of carp, fishing close in the edge on cat meat, drawn in the middle pegs.

Similar tactics saw John Garner second with 107lb 4oz followed by John Smith, he caught up in the water for 102lb 9oz.

Once again there were some very good weights recorded in the Townsend Lakes Fishery open on Sunday, fished on the Cuckoo Canal Pool.

Matt Arnold topping the field from peg 8 with 150lb 6oz taken on pellet close in and also on the long pole line.

Ricky James was second, he fished sweetcorn close in for 147lb 1oz, followed by Alan Owen with 132lb 8oz.

Tuesday’s Tydd Gote AC match fished at Black Dyke saw Mick Asker in pole position with 4lb 15oz, all roach on whip and pinkie.

Dave Parlett was second on 4lb 14oz followed by Andy Greenwood 2lb 13oz.

Thursdays match fished at Main Road saw Andrew Spencer out in front with 10lb 4oz.

His catch included a good bream, skimmers and perch on pole with chopped worm Dave Parlett had 4lb 3oz for second place followed by Dave Cochrane with 3lb 5 ½ oz.

Sunday’s club match fished again at Main Road on the North Level saw Paul Constable take first place with 8lb 5oz,

Paul caught roach and skimmers on pole and pinkie.

Andy Greenwood came second with 5lb 11oz, followed by Colin Burton with 2lb 2oz.

Fixtures: Thursday TGAC match will draw at 5.30pm at Harolds, Sunday draw at 11am, fish 12-5 at Main Road; Tuesday draw at 5.30 at Black Dyke.
