Fenland Rods AC fished the Jay Lake at Pidley at the weekend and a late invite to fish with them saw me drawn on peg 13.

Despite the rough and windy conditions a great time was had, with plenty of fish coming to the net all day on a variety of methods. Top rod on the day was John Smith, he put 124lb 3oz to the scales, most of his fish falling to meat. I managed to tempt fish on maggot and caster close in to come second on 115lb 7 ½ oz, followed by Dick Warrener on 110lb ½ oz and Dave Garner with 103lb.

This week’s club match is back on at the Decoy Complex, they will be fishing the Elm Pool.

The controversial groundbait feeder approach is allowed on the Fields End Water Fishery at Doddington and match winner Martin Parker took full advantage, coming in way ahead of the field with a fine 90lb net of carp taken up in the water on pellet in the latest Spratt’s AC match. Also fishing this popular water at the weekend was Leverington AC, in this match fished on a very windy day Mick Evered topped the field with 73lb 2oz of carp taken on a small feeder with pellet. Steve Tooke came in second with 38lb 14oz again all on the feeder, with Barry Price third with 35lb 8oz.

There were some very good weights taken from the Black Dyke in last weeks Tydd Gote club matches, Mick Asker took the honours in the Wednesday event, the Emneth tackle dealer finishing with 9lb 2oz, all small fish taken on the pole with pinkie.
