Chatteris continued their good start to the season by winning the top of the table clash against Madingley by 90 runs and take top spot in CCA Senior 3.
Openers captain Ant Palmer (69) and Kurt Cunningham (129 not out) put on over a hundred for the first wicket for the second week in a row, and Cunningham has now carried his bat for three innings putting on 311 runs since losing his wicket last. Palmer reached his 50 off 45 balls, and Chatteris found themselves 100 for 0 off just the first 15 overs.
After that the run rate dropped a little with wickets falling at regular intervals, so the home side finished on a very competitive 261-4.
Chatteris got off to a good start with the ball, with Palmer taking a wicket in the third over, but then a good partnership put on 78 inside 10 overs, But when the pace was taken off the ball by young Dom Platt 3-57, the scoreboard pressure got to the visiting side, Platt being well supported by Mark Leach 4-28, and they were all out for 171.
Chatteris seconds recorded their second win of the season with a close fought 11-run victory away at Needingworth in CCA 2A.
Chatteris batted first and after losing a couple of early wickets it was the returning Stuart Porter (45) playing his first game of the season who top scored for the visitors being well supported by captain Grant Osbourn (32) and a swashbuckling 18 from 15-year-old Cam Brown helped Chatteris to 167-9 in their 40 overs.
In reply the home side were dismissed for 156 with three overs still left. Best of the bowlers was Porter 4-46. Leg spinner Kev Felton took 3-13.
Chatteris thirds had a first win of the season by walkover as Somersham seconds could not raise a side in Junior 4A.
