Wisbech Town Acorns are the latest club to sign up with Asda Supermarkets to give children the opportunity to take part in free sports sessions.

The aim of the Sporting Chance programme is to encourage more children to take part in sporting activities and get active.

Local children will now be able to go along to a free coaching session at Wisbech Town Acorns.

All parents need to do is pick up a Sporting Chance voucher from their nearest Asda store, no purchase is necessary for participation!

Acorns Chairman and Level 2 coach Rob Gifford, who will be leading the sessions, said: ”We are proud to have been approached by Asda to take part in the programme and both the club and I are 100 per cent behind the idea of getting more kids involved in sporting activity.

“The idea is to get more children trying the sport for the first time, including the girls.

“New Football Association guidelines mean that the girls can play alongside the boys for longer than was previously the case and hopefully that will mean more girls entering the sport and participating for longer too.”
