Appleby over the moon with victory

Brantham 0, Wisbech Town 2

WISBECH Town boss Steve Appleby was over the moon with his side’s performance in this Ridgeons League win.

He said: “It was a hard working performance with everyone contributing in the team. We had to compete against a difficult side and Anthony Reeve had a real old battle with their striker Olly Mann but with the help of Jon Fairweather he came out on top.

“There was a lot of satisfaction from the performance and you could see it on the players’ faces after the game.”

Callum Reed gave Wisbech the lead after 11 minutes after a Matt Lunn cross and Darren Jimson’s shot from 15 yards squirmed under the goalkeeper’s body for the second goal after 65 minutes. The home side did have the ball in the net with 10 minutes to go but it was rightly ruled out for offside.

Wisbech: Lea Jordan, Simon Flanz, Jon Fairweather, Anthony Reeve, Scott Johnson, Callum Reed, Paul Jones, Lewis Thompson, Olly Gale, Darren Jimson, Matt Lunn. Subs used: Andy Furnell, Ash Stevens.
