Appleby’s signing hopes

Wisbech Town manager Steve Appleby is hoping to sign former March Town forward Denny Escorcio in time for Saturday’s game against Wivenhoe.

Appleby has put in a seven-day approach to Soham Town for the player and is hopeful that their new manager Steve Fallon will waive that and allow him to sign in time for this weekend’s game.

Appleby said: “Denny played well against us in the pre-season friendly and again in the Cambs Invitation Cup game earlier this month. He has got plenty of pace and will freshen things up for us up front so i just hope things can through in time for the Wivenhoe game.”

Escorcio, who was at Rushden Diamonds as a youth, has been at Soham for the last two seasons since quitting March.

Nick Davey is returning for a second spell on loan at Yaxley after losing his starting place in the Wisbech team. Ollie Gale will be returning to Wisbech from Yaxley in exchange.

Appleby said: “Nick needs games and is not in the plans at the moment and I am bringing back Ollie back to give us some width which I think we have missed since Callum Reed has been out.”
