Great Yarmouth 1,
March Town 3
Goals from Ash Brand, Danny Emmington and Max Mattless sealed the points on Saturday in the Thurlow Nunn League Division One.
March manager Paul Crosbie said of a three-goal second half: “It wasn’t a great first half but in the second half we dominated and destroyed them. It was a pleasing result and very good by the lads.
“We conceded a sloppy goal in the last five minutes, which was frustrating as we wanted a clean sheet – that is about as picky as you could get about things. We had 175 minutes without conceding a goal.
“We had a makeshift three central defence – we only had one recognised centre-half in Max Mattless. Our top scorer Robbie Masters and Sam Darlow had to play back there.
“It took us about ten minutes to get comfortable, but what helped is that we had Scott Welcher and Luke Pepper driving us in the midfield.
“That is back-to-back league wins and we are past the 20-point mark. It sets us up well for the next game on Boxing Day at Downham.”
Luke Pepper played a great through ball to split the home defence and set Brand free for the opening goal for the Hares, with a good first touch and assured finish.
Emmington converted his second free-kick in two games, this time blasting the ball hard and low instead of curling it.
The Hares made the game safe following a corner scramble and Mattless fired the loose ball into the roof of the net from six yards.
Josh Jackman, who has returned from university, got a run-out from the bench.
