Outwell Swifts manager Mark Secker praised his side after a 2-1 Cambs League Senior B victory at Bluntisham.

He said: “We performed very well today and looked like scoring every time we went on the attack! They were above us in the league so it was a big result for us.

“Captain Benny Jimson was outstanding in midfield as was Damien Gunns in defence. Sixteen-year-old Matty Thrower also came up from the reserves and looked very sharp and a good prospect.”

A first half Jonny Secker tap-in and a second half double deflected Jimmy Parker strike put them two up.

In Division 5D, Upwell snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat this weekend with an 89th minute equaliser from a superbly taken free-kick by substitute Matthew Thomas.

The Upwell manager was full of praise for the referee for controlling this match.

Gorefield Athletic’s season keeps on rolling forward and they move into second place with a good battling win 4-2 over March Saracens in the mud.

Ryan Alexander and Richard Hunt netted but a couple of breaks allowed March back in the match at 2-2.

Player-manager Martin Pettit headed home an Aaron Wright corner and Hunt hit his second.

Mom: Aaron Wright.
