The Hares managed their biggest margin of victory during the reign of boss Paul Crosbie, whose second season this is at the club.

It meant the Hares began their Thurlow Nunn League Division One season with a bang.

David Jackson opened the scoring for March on 44 minutes. Aaron McKenna struck three minutes after the break, then Lewis Thompson bagged a hat-trick, including two penalties.

Thompson was brought down for the first spot-kick, then a home player committed handball. Midfielder Thompson completed his treble with a shot from the edge of the box in the dying seconds.

Paul Richardson, sub Toby Ogbonna and McKenna had further chances, while Richardson was handy at the other end of the pitch by getting in the way of a goalbound effort.

Crosbie said: “We were very good, particularly in the second half.”

March: Liam Higgins, Gary White, Sam Darlow, Marc Hipwell, Lewis Cook, Jake Ogden, David Jackson, Lewis Thompson, Aaron McKenna, Paul Richardson, Ash Blanchflower. Subs: Ben Lemmon (for Blanchlower), Toby Ogbonna (for McKenna). Not used: Ben Collett, Sam Otuya, Ryan Howells.
