MARCH Town manager Brett Whaley has appointed former Hares striker James MacCallum as his assistant manager for the coming season.

Whaley and MacCallum worked together at Ramsey Town before Whaley left for Deeping Rangers last season.

MacCallum took charge of the Peterborough League side then and they went onto win the Premier Division title.

But Whaley will be without the services of goalkeeper Lee Brooks who is looking to play United Counties League football next season and forward Denny Escorcio is also looking elsewhere.

Escorcio failed to turn up before a game towards the end of last season and the then-manager Jamie Weston decided to leave him out of the squad for the rest of the campaign.

Whaley met with last season’s squad last week and said: “I had a good response from the players who were at the club last season and I have also spoken to a possible five new players and hope to get some answers next week.”

March start training again at the end of this month.
