Tydd St Mary managed to put their disappointment of last week’s semi-final exit behind them with an emphatic 5-0 win against Coningsby Reserves in the Boston & District League Division Two.
Saints started brightly and were rewarded on seven minutes when Mark Garner fired across a corner which found Stu Easey on the edge of the box to volley home. Garner then added a second to make it 2-0.
After the break Steven Robinson came off the bench to make it 3-0 and then added his second for 4-0. The best goal was saved until the last minute. Tydd were awarded a free kick just inside their own half and man of the match, Easey sent in a wonderful effort which clipped the bar and went in for 5-0.
This was Tydd manager Mark Greenacre’s last game at the helm for Saints due to work commitments, and he said: “We just keep getting stronger, I am proud with what we have done.”
Influential midfielder, Stephen Cousins, and ex-manager, Carl Wilson, will take charge of the team until the end of the season.
