Talks have broken down on a potential merger between Chatteris Town FC and Chatteris Fen Tigers FC.
Chatteris Town released a final statement regarding the failed merger: “Whilst Chatteris Town were fully supportive of closer liaison with youth teams, there remains insoluble difficulties in merging the senior teams and after some considerable dialogue Chatteris Fen Tigers decided not to proceed with further discussions on a potential merger.
“Chatteris Town therefore did not need to make a final decision on the proposed merger and were still assessing all possible avenues how best both clubs could move forward together.
“Chatteris Town would like to thank all involved from Chatteris Fen Tigers and will continue to work with the youths on potential joint ventures. We will continue having involvement with youth football in Chatteris.
“We are currently rebuilding our structure for the new season and to date have recruited 17 committed people to assist in the running of the club. More details on our progress will follow.
“At this point it is timely to thank our outgoing committee members Mr Saunders, Mr Hollis and Mr Taylor for their work at Chatteris Town. We wish them every success in their next footballing ventures.”
