Chris rolls back the years in 14-goal bonanza

Chatteris Town went down 3-2 at Waterbeach in a Cambs League Premier Division game of second half goals.

Chatteris boss Steve Bright said: “Sometimes you feel it is not going to be your day. They had more more pressure but not many chances. We huffed and puffed and didn’t play at our best.”

In a fairly even game the Lilies went behind just after the interval, but Ben Matthews levelled following good work from Jack Saunders down the left.

Chatteris went 3-1 down before Simon Howard tapped in with 15 minutes remaining.

Stuart Anderson, recently moved from March Town, attended the game but sat it out with a knock sustained in training. The midfielder hopes to make his debut in next weekend’s must-win game versus West Wratting.

Upwell Town manager Karl Schultz said of the 5-0 Haigh Cup triumph at Earith Res: “It was an exceptional team performance.”
