FORMER Wisbech Town skipper Paul Cousins re-signed for the club as expected on Wednesday before the win against Haverhill.
Manager Steve Appleby put in a seven-day approach at the start of the week, but Wroxham waived that and allowed the defender to sign early although he is cup-tied and not available for Saturday’s game at Dunston.
Cousins left Wisbech in the summer of 2010 to join neighbours Kings Lynn, much to the annoyance of the Wisbech fans.
But he was sacked by the Lynn early this season and then had a short spell at Soham Town before joining Ridgeons League leaders Wroxham.
Cousins admitted earlier this week that he was not enjoying his football at Wroxham and was thinking about packing up.
Appleby made his move after defender Stacy Cartwright was ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken nose and fractured eye socket.
He said: “Losing Stacy is a massive blow so I had to look for a defender and to be honest we have missed Paul’s presence at the club.
“He is what you call a die-hard centre half who is not afraid to put his head in where others would not put their foot in and he is a great character around the club too.”
