Crown lose cup thriller

Crown 5, Bentinck 6 (aet)

Crown lost out in this Lynn Sunday League Division One Cup thriller after they had a two-goal lead at the break thanks to goals from Joe Woods and Ben Jimson.

But in the second half Bentinck equalised then Crown lost their keeper Lenny Peeling to two yellow cards and they drew level at 2-2.

Ricky Mason gave Crown the lead once more but Bentinck equalised late on to take the game to extra time.

Bentinck hit two quick goals to take command. More controversy came when a Darren Rawthorn cross struck the outstretched arm of the Bentinck full back and was somehow missed by the referee. Bentinck added a sixth goal before Crown hit back with Joe Woods and Ben Jimson making it 6-5 at the end.

William Burt 1,

March Saracens 1 (aet)

March Saracens won 3-2 on penalties to progress to the semi-finals of the Divisional Cup in the West Norfolk Sunday League.

In a one sided first half William Burt took the lead with a disputed penalty, but Saracens raised their game in the second half and a shuffle of personnel. Good work from Ash Taylor (MoM) paid dividends when Dan Smethurst nodded home from a Jermaine Watson corner.

Nothing could separate the sides in extra time but crucial saves from Aaron Conner in the penalty shoot out saw his side through to the next stage.
