Cup of joy for youngsters

March Soccer School and Chatteris under 10 teams both enjoyed cup wins at the weekend

March SS Blue 1, Haverhill 0

March opened the scoring early on through an excellent finish by Josh Kirby in a very entertaining Cambs Cup game.

They could have extended their lead many times but for some excellent saves by the visiting keeper.

After the break March continued to play well but Haverhill mounted more attacks on the March goal with Ozzy Lane producing some outstanding saves late on. Lewis Kent was unlucky when his drive was pushed onto the bar by the keeper.

Chatteris 3, Cottenham 2

Chatteris won this first round cup-tie with a goal 10 minutes from time.

Cottenham scored first after Chatteris had started well but two goals before half-time saw the home side leading 2-1.

The visitors managed to equalise after the Chatteris keeper had made a great save only for the ball to bounce back to a Cottenham player to fire home. Chatteris played a long ball which the Cottenham dropped at the feet of a Chatteris player to smash it home for a 3 -2 win.

Chatteris scorers were Clayton Shepherd 2. Robert Fry 1.
