Crown 3, Coates 1
MARK Secker signed off as manager of Crown Outwell with a North Cambs Cup win against Coates on Sunday at the GER.
Secker made changes after Friday’s Lynn League Cup final defeat against Terrington and it paid dividends as his side dominated from start to finish.
After a string of attacks Crown took the lead through Stuart Brown. In the second half Crown remained on top and were rewarded after a fine ball from Darren Rawthorn saw Ben Jimson head home but Coates caught Crown napping from a corner and made it 2-1. After this the Crown made a tactical switch and the pacy Chris Young beat a defender to pass to Jimson who then set up Jonny Secker for a good finish from 12 yards to win the cup for the first time.
Boss Secker said: “The boys worked their socks off and deserved the win. We did it for Ash Goodale who suffered a double fracture to the leg in the first game. Chris Gunkel had an outstanding game for us as did Chris Young but all the players deserve credit. This was my last game as manager and I am glad I went out on a high.”
