CHRIS Dear is returning to Wisbech Town to help with the coaching again next season.
Dear, a former Wisbech player and assistant manager, was recently overlooked for the March Town manager’s job and Steve Appleby has stepped in to bring him back to the Fenland Stadium.
Dear (pictured) quit Wisbech last September after the FA Cup defeat against Wroxham when he took charge in Appleby’s absence because he was struggling to balance the Wisbech job and his son’s games with the Peterborough United academy on Saturdays.
Dear now has his Saturdays free again and was disappointed not to get the March job but said: “I am really happy to be back at the club working with Steve Appleby and Darren Jimson. We have a really exciting season ahead of us.
“Steve had continued to strengthen the squad and I think there is real good feel factor around the club. There is a settled manager and the nucleus of a settled squad over the last two seasons. The club is also in a healthy position with a hardworking board and is now self sufficient with the clubhouse in full swing and generating income too. And we also have a very loyal band of fans to support the club too.”
Appleby commented: “As soon as Chris Dear became available again we wanted him back at the club he loves so much.
“He will be assisting Darren Jimson and myself and you cannot have enough good people around the club.”
