Denny brace as Sports shock leaders

Leverington Sports’ new signing Denny Escorcio bagged a brace on debut in the 5-1 Peterborough League Premier Division triumph at leaders Peterborough Parkway.

Nathan Watson scored his 15th and 16th goals in 15 games and Gav Hill was on target. Wisbech’s Darren Jimson and assistant boss Chris Dear played in a strong Sports side.

Boss Stuart Webb said: “We went to the top of the league team who have won their last 14 on the trot and that’s our best performance of the season. I couldn’t be happier.”

He added about ex-March forward Escorcio: “He went to Peterborough Northern Star at the start of the season and hasn’t played much since. His second goal was class.”
