FROZEN pitches brought a double blow to Wisbech boss Steve Appleby’s plans on Saturday.
He was disappointed when the Ridgeons League game against Gorleston was called off an hour before the kick-off and was also thwarted when Vase opponents Dunston had their game postponed too.
He said: “Both teams were keen to give it a go but there was a frozen patch in the six-yard box of one goalmouth and the referee called the game off. As I said to him we will play on harder pitches at the end of April, but that is the way it is.
“We had a training session instead and at least we have a clean bill of health for the Vase game.
“Dick Creasey and the chairman were also on the way to Dunston to watch them play when that game was called off too.”
