Duo depart

LUKE Pepper and Ashley Brand have ended a 10-year association with March Town by signing for UCL club Yaxley.

The former Hares skipper Pepper said: “It was a very difficult decision for me to leave March after all this time. But at 27 how many more opportunities will come my way to play at a higher level.

“It is not just moving up a level but it is a completely different style of football to the Ridgeons and I want to see if I can cut it at UCL level as well.

“March has always been my club. I have not left on bad terms and I wish the club all the best for this season. I will be down to watch them when I do not have a game and support the team.”

Brand scored his first goal for Yaxley in a friendly on Saturday and promptly signed after the game after also having an offer from PNS.

Pepper and Brand take the total to eight players to leave March to follow former manager Brett Whaley at Yaxley with Chris Lenton, Gavin Cooke, Dan Jenkins, Kyle Nolan, Aaron Butcher and Adam Rothery.

Defender Marc Welcher is expected to join the exodus to Yaxley when he returns from holiday this week.
