Duo in line for debuts

MARCH Town manager Brett Whaley is looking to field new signings Tony Brown and Anthony Thomas for Saturday’s home Ridgeons League Division One against Swaffham at the GER.

Both players are defenders, who can also play in midfield. Brown began the season with Chatteris Town before leaving in November. He has played for the Hares earlier in his career and has also had spells with Ely City.

Whaley knows Thomas from their days at Deeping two seasons ago. Thomas has also played for Yaxley, Huntingdon and Peterborough Northern Star.

Winger Ricky Goodale is also back at the club after he left for King’s Cliffe in the Peterborough League in September.

With Craig Norman ruled out until the end of the season and Welcher completing his three-match ban this weekend, Whaley was short of defensive cover for his team.

Brown has plenty of experience, while Thomas certainly has the ability even if his attitude at times is up to question.

Whaley said: “Thomas played really well against King’s Lynn while at Deeping when he came up against Jack Defty. If he shows that sort of form he could be a really good signing for us.”
