Wisbech Town 1, Yaxley 3
Temporary boss Dick Creasey could not bow out with a victory on Saturday as he makes way for new management team Paul Cousins and Scott Johnson.
The former Fenmen manager had to deal with losing two key players to injury in the first half of the United Counties League Premier Division clash.
However, he was not happy with the manner in which the Cuckoos scored.
A late Scott Carter goal secured the points for ex-March manager Brett Whaley’s men who scored twice against the run of play on 37 and 40 minutes.
Charlie Butt’s late strike halved the deficit.
Creasey said: “We had enough chances to win the game but the goals we let in were schoolboy errors. We shouldn’t be conceding those goals.”
Wisbech midfielder Adam Millson was the first to be injured and Cousins replaced him on 23 minutes.
The situation with Wisbech’s under-sized squad was highlighted when defender Neal Spafford also had to be substituted at half-time.
Creasey said: “Adam went off to have an X-ray on his ankle as a precaution while Neal has been struggling with an ankle injury for three to four weeks.
“As soon as he gets a knock on it, he is struggling.”
On-loan player from King’s Lynn Butt picked up his first goal for the club when finishing off a simple move between the centre-back and full-back.
