WISBECH Town have been dealt a double body blow for their opening Thurlow Nunn League game against Walsham-le-Willows on August 4 with striker Chris Bacon and defender Anthony Reeve both suspended.
Last season’s top scorer Bacon and Reeve were sent off the final league game of last season against Brantham last April and must serve a one -game ban. Reeve was sent off early in the game for a foul as last man and Bacon received a second yellow card in the second half.
The Cambs FA have informed Wisbech that the bans come into operation on the first day of the season.
Manager Steve Appleby said: “It is bad news but at least it will ease the problem on who to play up front against Walsham now. We knew the bans were coming up so perhaps it is best to get them over with early on.”
