Fenmen aiming to continue strong start

Wisbech are in action tonight when they travel to Newmarket, a side they beat three times last season – twice in the league and also in the FA Vase.

Steve Reid, Lewis Thompson and Matt Lunn are all available again but Scott Johnson will miss this Ridgeons Premier Division fixture and Saturday’s trip to Clacton with a knee injury.

Appleby said: “I think as a player and manager I have a good record at Newmarket but we will treat it the same as any other game and go there and give it our all. We want to make sure we can continue this good start and the same applies at Clacton.

“The real problem is picking the side with the players doing well who have come in and other players now becoming available, but it is a nice position to be in.”

Wisbech complete a busy seven days with a home league game against Dereham Town (7.45) next Tuesday night with Billy Smith making a return to Elgood’s Fenland Stadium.
