Wisbech Town and March Town both begin their league programmes this weekend.

Wisbech boss Steve Appleby attended Market Rasen races on Sunday. Are the Fenmen worth an each-way flutter for the UCL Premier Division title after switching from the Thurlow Nunn Premier?

Appleby replied: “I’d like to think so, we’ll be involved.

“I won’t make any rash statements because other teams have been spending serious money, but we’ll be up there.”

On Saturday Wisbech travel to Wellingborough and their first home match is on Tuesday against Peterborough Northern Star.

Everyone should be fit and available for the opening game except for skipper Paul Cousins who is at a wedding.

The Hares in Thurlow Nunn Division One on Saturday go to Cornard United and on Tuesday host Saffron Walden Town.

Boss Paul Crosbie said: “We’re getting there. There’s lots to be optimistic about.”
