Harrowby U 0,

Wisbech Town 5

Wisbech Town scored five times for the third game in a row to dispatch bottom four side Harrowby United.

It was also the Fenmen’s sixth victory in a row after their first-ever visit to the Environcom Stadium.

Wisbech were 3-0 up at the interval thanks to strikes from Tommy Treacher (2) and Billy Smith.

Luke Wilson added the fourth goal while sub Danny Beaumont rounded off the scoring.

The Fenmen are in fourth spot and if they win their four games in hand over AFC Rushden they will be a single point behind the leaders.

Wisbech manager Dick Creasey said Town are very much still the underdogs: “We’re in the mix now. We’re on a great run and we don’t want it to finish now.

“Without a shadow of a doubt AFC Rushden are the favourites. They’ve played the games and got the points. They have a big squad and a big budget, whereas we haven’t got the finances. But we might have a say in who wins the title as we’ve got Holbeach, Yaxley and Rushden to play.”

Wisbech: Jordan, Spafford, Fairweather, Wilson, Horne, Cobb, Reid, Millson (Bishop), Smith (Lunn), Ford (Beaumont), Treacher. Subs: Cousins, Johnson. Attendance: 61

Peterborough Northern Star 0, Wisbech Town 5

The Fenmen sailed into the quarter-finals with five second-half goals on Tuesday last week.

Wisbech booked their last eight date with Premier Division rivals Cogenhoe thanks to a hat-trick from Josh Ford and two goals in two minutes from Matt Lunn.

PNS player Nick Davey struck a post from the penalty spot.

Wisbech: Hewitt, Johnson, Fairweather, Wilson, Horne, Lunn, Reid, Millson, Smith, Ford, Beaumont. Subs: Cobb, Spafford, Bishop. Attendance: 84.

Last night the Fenmen were at Boston Town (where Jon Fairweather was due to be named on the bench because of work commitments) and next Tuesday they entertain Deeping Rangers at the Fenland Stadium in what Creasey called two difficult games.

In between those is what looks like a more straightforward game at bottom side Long Buckby AFC.
