Godmanchester Rovers 0, Wisbech Town 2

The Fenmen proved they were no April Fools but left it late to win their Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division Easter Monday clash and keep their title hopes alive.

An own goal from sub Matt Lunn’s cross (82 minutes) and Callum Reed (84) give Wisbech a hard-fought win.

The pressure had been on the visitors as leaders Dereham Town had already won 1-0 at Norwich Utd in the earlier 11am kick-off.

Brantham won 4-0 at FC Clacton; while Gorleston could only draw 1-1 with Kirkley & Pakefield, so Wisbech reclaim second spot. Fifth place Walsham had no fixture.

Fenmen manager Steve Appleby hopes his skipper Paul Cousins recovers from illness after missing the past week’s matches with a virus and chest infection.

The Fenmen have no-one suspended for next Saturday’s game at Stanway; while on Tuesday they host Mildenhall.

Wisbech: Jordan, Fairweather, Johnson, Reeve, Cartwright, Reid, Bacon, Millson, Spafford, White, Reed. Subs used: Jackson, Lunn, Gale.

March Town 1, Downham 2

The Hares replied through Andy Bryan on the stroke of time in Thurlow Nunn Division One on Easter Monday.

The Hares conceded on 16 minutes and midway through the second half. March boss Paul Crosbie expected Sam Darlow to join the squad in the warm-up after dislocating his shoulder.

Luke Pepper, who is out for the season, has had cartilage cleaned up on his knee.

Max Mattless completes his suspension at Whitton on Saturday.
