Wisbech Town FC face an anxious wait over the fitness of goalkeeper Lea Jordan, who missed Saturday’s 5-1 home win over Sileby Rangers, which keeps them hot on the UCL leaders’ heels.

Former Boston Utd stopper Andy Hewitt stepped into the boots of Jordan, who suffered a groin strain in last week’s training session and was doubtful for last night’s (Tuesday) derby trip to PNS.

Paul Cousins (work) and Tommy Treacher (cup-tied) also miss the derby, but if Jordan recovers the Fenmen will be at full strength for next Saturday’s ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League trip to Harrowby.

Fenmen boss Dick Creasey said: “Andy joined us when Jordy went to Bedford and is now at Skegness. Luckily their weekend game was called off on Friday.

“Harrowby is another game everyone expects us to win but as Yaxley found out at Wellingborough – you haven’t got a divine right to win.”

Creasey confirmed Wisbech secured the UCL signature of Jamie Stevens, who skippered Spalding to the UCL title last season, on a dual registration as emergency cover.

The Fenmen had put in a seven-day approach for the player.

Goalkeeper Hewitt had little to do in Wisbech’s comfortable win over Northampton Sileby Rangers, which was their fifth league victory in a row.

An early Sileby goal was cancelled out by goals from Jon Fairweather (21 minutes), Treacher (22) and Danny Beaumont (31).

A headed Fairweather goal (67) and one from sub Josh Ford (80) sealed the points for the hosts.

Wisbech: Hewitt, Johnson, Fairweather, Cousins, Spafford, Lunn, Reid, Millson, Cobb, Treacher, Beaumont. Subs: Ford, Horne, Wilson, B Smith.

Wisbech had earlier managed a 2-0 midweek win at Sleaford Town on Tuesday last week.

Goals came from Treacher (9) and Steve Reid (42), while the Fenmen hit the post and the bar.
