Wisbech Town Football Club is holding a family fun day on Sunday at the Elgood’s Fenland Stadium with a number of former players in action.
Entry is free and the day runs from 11am, right through until 11pm, with an official opening by the Mayor of Wisbech, councillor Jonathan Farmer at noon.
The main footballing attraction of the day will be a charity match (2pm) for the Help For Heroes fund, between Fenmen supporters and a team of Wisbech Town legends including Joe Green, Mel Mattless, John Hanslip, Martin Lindsay, Jerry Lowery, Jackie Gallagher, Paul Cousins, Daz Edey, Mark Jimson, Dick Creasey, Gary Setchell, Ian Jones, Wayne Garner, Chris Dear, and manager Steve Appleby. The teams will be playing for the ‘Goalbound Cup’, a trophy to commemorate the late Dennis Harris.
There should be something for everyone with a talent competition, bouncy castle, bungee run, face painting, tombola and refreshments. There’s a free disco in the evening with a live performance by King’s Lynn rapper ‘Winkzy’.
Anyone wishing to take part in the talent competition should contact John Keith on 01945 461354 by Saturday lunchtime.
