March Town Utd 2,

Eaton Socon 0

The Hares won their final scheduled warm-up with a goal in each half before their Thurlow Nunn One season begins a week on Saturday.

They defeated Eaton Socon of the Cambs Premier after Stilton had to call off their visit.

The Hares missed a few good chances in the first half, and the visitors “scored” but it was given offside.

James Fiddes, younger brother of Jordan, came on just before the break, and made an immediate impact by racing down the wing, shooting from distance and seeing the ball helped into the net via the head of a defender.

In the second period several classy saves from David Beeny kept the visitors at bay.

Jordan Fiddes made it 2-0 when he cracked a dead ball from great distance.

After having four from last year’s under 16s play in midweek (Brett Liddy, Tom Hinton, Tyler Carter and James Youles) the Hares were thrilled with the display of another, Liam Brady, who came on in the second half and showed great tenacity and skill.

The club thanks Eaton Socon for stepping in at the last minute to ensure a game went ahead.

Starting XI: Beeny, Jackman, Jordan Fiddes, Mattless (C), Goult, Jackson, Cox, Brand, Barber, Cooke, S White.
