Wisbech Town 3
Wisbech Town FC safely negotiated their FA Cup tie on Saturday thanks to a brace from Josh Ford.
After Fraser Bayliss had put the visitors 1-0 up after 13 minutes, Ford grabbed the next on 26 minutes.
UCL rivals Sleaford replied in the 50th minute with an own goal, but Ford notched late on at Elsaforde Park to settle the extra preliminary round tie.
Fenmen boss Dick Creasey said: “It was a good result but I wouldn’t say it was a great performance.
“Certain parts of the game I was disappointed with; certain parts were OK. I was disappointed we conceded and that we should’ve gone well out of sight. But we’re through.”
Stuart Cobb came on for the injured Danny Beaumont, who fell awkwardly after going up for a header, while Neal Spafford also limped off with a hamstring strain.
Both will require extensive work from physio Shane Spafford at midweek training before a decision will be made on their availability for the weekend’s trip to new UCL Premier Division side Thurnby Nirvana.
