Wisbech Town 2,
Norwich United 2
The Fenmen managed their fourth home league draw in a row in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division on Saturday.
It needed two equalisers from Callum Reed and Joe Jackson to ensure a point, and puts them in sixth place.
The game had gone ahead partly thanks to a band of volunteers working on the pitch, laying down sand. The Fenmen went behind just before half-time.
However 10 minutes after the interval Callum Reed, newly returned to the club, scored a tap in after good work from Matt Lunn, who was fouled but played was waved on.
Norwich restored the advantage on the hour mark, but Jackson scored his second goal in two games since moving from Thurlow Nunn Division One side Swaffham following a neat turn and finish 10 minutes later.
It leaves Wisbech with anything but a Fortress Elgood’s Fenland Stadium as they have recorded just one win at home since the start of November.
Manager Steve Appleby said: “We dominated the game for long periods.
“Norwich’s two goals were from two mistakes by us.
“It is costing us big. The two mistakes killed us and we just got caught out.”
