Frustration for Fenmen after only making a point

Felixstowe & Walton 1,

Wisbech Town 1

Manager Steve Appleby was happy to see his side climb back into the top six in the Ridgeons Premier Division but very frustrated that his team had not taken all three points.

The home side took the lead after 26 minutes against the run of play but a minute later Lewis Thompson snapped up a half-clearance from a Callum Reed corner and volleyed home in good style.

Wisbech should have then gone and taken the lead but Ash Stevens missed a good chance and then when Reed fed Andy Furnell the ball bobbled just as he was getting his shot away.

Appleby said: “We still have a bit to learn and need to be able to grind out results when it is required.

“Felixstowe were happy to sit behind the ball in numbers and use time-wasting.

“But we couldn’t find a way to break them down.

“We had a lot of the possession but did not always make the most of it with a wrong decision.

“It is good to be back in the top six where we want to be but it is frustrating to draw because this is the type of match we should be winning.”
