LONG Sutton warmed up for a cup final date with an impressive 7-2 win against Warboys in the Peterborough League Division One on Saturday.

That should certainly give them confidence for this Saturday’s Spalding Inter Services Cup final against Holbeach Reserves at Carter’s Park.

Matt Cawthorn, Ryan Lennon and James Ward all hit two goals each with Jake Clitheroe completing the onslaught.

Manager Binny Mackay enthused: “That was excellent. They were a poor side but it was the best football we have produced this season. It was certainly the ideal performance with a cup final coming up next weekend.”

Parson Drove could not raise a team for their Premier Division clash against Ramsey Town and had to call the game off.

Gary Haimes said: “We had two players injured, two on holiday and another two called off on Friday. We’ve only a squad of 14 players and we were forced to call off.

“It is very disappointing but it was just one of those weeks.”

Sutton Bridge were among the goals in Division Two with a 6-1 win against Gedney Hill through Nicky Reims 2, Ben Partredge, Jake Lally, Lee Still and an own goal. They are in fourth spot.

Guyhirn enjoyed a very good 3-1 win at Woodston with David Morpeth, Lee Benton and Ryan Brown on target.

There is no stopping Levering-ton Reserves at present and they were 3-0 winners at Long Sutton Reserves in Division Three.

Ben Norman, Joe Woods and Tancsel Ibranim were on target and Shane Milner’s side are now in second spot with a big chance of promotion.

Sutton Bridge Reserves lost 3-2 at home to Parkway Eagles in Division Five. Curtis Bartlett and Mark Noble scored.
