Grant boost for Saints

Tydd St Mary Football Club are to introduce a new youth section this coming season following a £5,000 Grow the Game grant awarded by the Football Foundation.

The club aims to give boys and girls in the local community extra opportunities to participate in regular football.

The club will also use the grant to improve the quality of coaching and facilities they provide.

Carl Wilson, the club secretary, said: “This is fantastic news! There are lots of people at our club working very hard to improve things in every way.

“The grant from the Football Foundation will greatly assist us in moving forward and continue to raise our standards for all players and managers.”

Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “We warmly congratulate Tydd St Mary FC and the Lincolnshire County FA for their hard work and dedication in securing this award.”

The club are to hold their first Open Day and trials on July 30 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Simon Ward, who has a Level 3 certificate in coaching football (UEFA B Coaching Award), will be in attendance.
