Green light for new leaders Upwell

Cambs Leaguers Chatteris Town were knocked out of the Bullen Cup at Cottenham on penalties 5-4 after it was deadlocked at 1-1.

Upwell went top of League 5D for the first time since September after dominating against Walsoken who played the entire match with 10 men.

The wind played a big part in the first half, with the sides scoreless at the break. Gary Green (2), Luke Gale and Jonny Allen’s 13th of the season scored for Upwell, who enjoyed the second half wind advantage.

Upwell manager Karl Schultz said: “Unfortunately Walsoken only had 10 players, and credit to them for playing the fixture when so many others were cancelled.”
