March Town United 2,
Stowmarket Town 1
THE Hares hung on to register a win which puts them in sixth position in the Ridgeons Football League Division One.
Adam Rothery netted after 25 minutes and Andy Wayte on 35 minutes at the GER to put March 2-0 up at the break before basement outfit Stowmarket replied in the second half.
March manager Brett Whaley said: “It was a good first half performance and we played pretty well for an hour. In the last 20 minutes it was pretty hard and we were seeing out the game.
“We were good in patches and in we’re in a situation where we have so many new players, it’s taking time for them to all settle down.
“We have to be patient with them and try to pick up as many points as we can during that time.
“Ten points from five games – we’d have taken that at the start of the season.
“It’d be nice to hang around the top three or four and we won’t see our potential until Christmas.
“Once they have had two or three months together I hope performances will improve by then.”
Stu Anderson came off the bench for the last ten minutes after returning to the squad.
March: Jordan, Davis, Cooke, Jenkins, Sutton, Lenton, Rothery, Nolan, Wayte, Pepper, Goodale. Subs used: Hepworth, Brand, Anderson.
