Hares have great chance

MARCH Town have a golden opportunity to return to winning form when they take on Ridgeons Division One’s bottom team Cornard at the GER on Saturday.

Last season this would have been a formality for March but they have not played with the same confidence at home this campaign and may have been in the top six had they done so on the back of some very good away wins.

Manager Jamie Weston commented: “We have under-achieved this season. We have the players with the ability to be doing a lot better as we have shown with some good away victories, but at home we have not produced our best for some reason. This game gives us a good opportunity to put things right.

“Mind you it will be important that we get off to a good start and do not let Cornard have any joy to give them any encouragement. We will have to be more clinical in the last third of the pitch than we were on Saturday.”

Marc Welcher returned to the first team squad on Tuesday night in the Cambs Cup game against Fulbourn and is expected to take injured Adam Sutton’s place in the heart of the defence against Cornard. Grant Watson may well have done enough to get a start and Denny Escorcio, too.

It is a very important game for the team and anything but three points would be a big disappointment
